About IAS Gurukul
IAS Gurukul is India’s leading institute for sociology optional preparation for the civil services examination. The institute is particularly well known for its sociology classroom course, sociology online course, sociology test series (online & offline) and interview guidance programs. Under the guidance of its Director Pranay Aggarwal, scores of civil services aspirants have nurtured their IAS dreams. IAS Gurukul has emerged as a benchmark institution to achieve excellence in the field of preparation for the civil services examination. Our underlying orientation at IAS Gurukul is to serve the students.
IAS Gurukul is selected as an eminent coaching institute by the Department of ST and SC Development, Government of Chhattisgarh to provide coaching to selected students under the Rajiv Yuva Utthan Yojana, 2019 for the UPSC civil services examination.
Students' Success
In 2021, 117 of our registered students were selected by UPSC in various civil services (Final Selections) though the Civil Services Examination (CSE). 373 of our registered students cleared the CSE Mains in 2020 to appear for the UPSC Interview.
In 2020, 65 of our registered students have been selected by UPSC in various civil services (Final Selections). 180 of our registered students cleared the CSE Mains in 2019.
Over the years, scores of our registered students have cleared the Civil Services Exam and are today working as civil servants. Our alumni are serving in various capacities in different states and the central government; including several IAS, IPS, IFS & IRS. Some of the top rankers from our institute include All India Rank 2, 3, 6, 12, and 20 in the Civil Services Exam.
Students Profile
The institute is trusted by hundreds of students across the country for its specialized programs in Sociology optional. IAS Gurukul students for sociology optional classes are from diverse academic backgrounds including science and engineering, management, commerce and humanities. In fact, most of our students have no academic background in sociology. Our students hail from various educational institutions including IITs, IIMs, NITs, NSIT Delhi, Delhi University, Delhi Technological University, JNU, AMU, PTU, Mumbai University, Tata Institute of Social Sciences Mumbai, Pune University, Kurukshetra University, UPES Dehradun, Osmania University, NIFT, BITS Pilani, Jamia Milia Islamia and numerous others.
Pedagogy at IAS Gurukul
The Gurukul is at the forefront of promoting real learning and is committed to providing the best in class coaching. The classes at the Gurukul are deliberately interactive with due emphasis on conceptual clarity, doubts clearing and answer writing. The faculty is well aware that most of the students of our Sociology optional course do not have any academic background in sociology and the class lectures are designed accordingly.
The Gurukul is a unique experiment – as a fraternity of educators and students striving together in the pursuit of a common goal. The Gurukul is distinguished by the fraternal atmosphere it fosters, in which the students and faculty enrich each other as co-learners. At the Gurukul, we train the candidates to take on the civil service exam in a structured and focused manner.

The faculty has honed his teaching skills over more than 10 years of specialized experience in guiding UPSC aspirants for Sociology optional.

Mentoring at IAS Gurukul
Preparing for the civil services is a challenging task. During the long and arduous journey, a student may get demotivated, confused or face seemingly insurmountable challenges. At IAS Gurukul, our effort is not only to provide the students with a roadmap for effective learning but also to reassure them with continuous motivation and inspiration during their journey on the road to success. In this context the task of mentoring becomes important.
For mentoring the students, the Director of the institute and the support staff ensure that they are always available to address any doubts of the students and attempt to resolve any difficulties that the students are facing in their preparation. Students are encouraged to discuss their doubts, apprehensions and concerns, whether academic or non-academic in nature, with us. We are willing to go an extra mile to help students in whichever way possible- whether it is personal doubts clearing and guidance, one on one interaction or moral and material support.
IAS Gurukul students are also regularly mentored by legendary names of India’s top bureaucrats, educationists, public intellectuals, eminent citizens and seniormost jurists. They impart their knowledge and techniques to the members of the Gurukul and ensure that our efforts are on track to produce, year after year, successful candidates in the exam.
This year (in 2020); IAS Gurukul students have already been mentored by D.P. Agarwal, former UPSC Chairman; Wajahat Habibullah, former Director, LBSNAA & India’s First Chief Information Commissioner; Amb. Vishnu Prakash, former Indian Ambassador to Canada and others.
